A day spent at the amazing village of Roccamadour in the Parc Naturel Régional des Causses du Quercy

Roccamadour

Rocamadour is an important pilgrimage destination, and has been for 1000 years. Built on the site of a shrine to a Madonna, the shrine became famous for its healing powers, and soon became a stop on the pilgrimage path to Santiago de Campostela. There is even a shrine (Chapelle de l'Ovalie) to the sport of Rugby!

The village clings to the cliff side above the river Alzou and we spent a brilliant day exploring and touring the countryside around the village. You can find out more about it here.
