Zaragoza 2023

The Capital of Aragon

Saputo

Before I start talking about Zaragoza I need to tell you about a hidden gem we found in the Old Town. I don't do food revues, but Saputo is one of those places that you need to experience. Saputo is located in the heart of La Magdalena in Calle Antonio Agustin. We were immediately made to feel at home and they clearly had loyal local customers. The food was freshly made to order and was delicious. We were treated to a Peruvian ceviche with tiger milk sauce, huge croquettes, deep fried pork belly and a fabulous selection of desserts.

If you are ever in Zaragoza do not miss the opportunity to visit Saputo, you will not be disappointed.

Zaragoza

Zaragoza, located on the Ebro river, is built on the Roman city of Caesaraugusta, the ruins of this ancient city have been preserved in many archeological sites across the city, some of which are below the plazas and buildings.

Zargoza is also the location of the Basílica del Pilar. This is a massive building dedicated to Mary who appeared, standing on a pillar, to St James in AD40.

La Aljafería

The Aljafería is a fortified palace built in the late 11th century by Moors. Today it houses the regional parliament of Aragon.
